It can only be tranfered to dependents or not used at all. It doesnt have to be used for regular colleges could be used in trade colleges as well like mechanics, cooking, computers, etc... so it is good to at least try unless he has a really good paying job right from the start that will always be there for him. So that means dependents. Anyways, there is a lot attached to the transfer eligibility to transfer the GI bill if he had wife/children. He would have had to serve 6 years with a 4 year contract signed or 10 years or more. However, still you are not eligible for the Gi Bill benefits. Bill to his dependents aka. Children, spouse. And there are lots of rules for him being able to do that though. He has to be active duty and has to have at least 10 years service.
